To balance the zomg Defense stat, I am going to test out a Guard Crush system and see how it works out. It is very simple.
If a Guard Crush is possible, a Check is rolled between the attack's base stat and the Defense blocking it. If the defender wins, nothing happens. If the attacker wins, the defender is forced sharply out of his defensive stance and can't Defend until he recovers, which will occur on the next Turn that the defender isn't attacked in. Specifics; A Crushed character can instantly recover by spending 1 Act. They can act normally, but cannot counter the attack that Crushed them. An attack that successfully Guard Crushes does -not- pierce Defense. It prevents further Defenses for a time, but has no negative effect on the defense that causes it.
When is a Guard Crush possible?
Simple. You can Guard a number of times in a row equal to your SPwrII Bonus. After that many Guards, a Guard Crush will be possible on every attack that you Defend. Attempting a Dodge resets this counter and allows you to Defend again safely. Being Crushed does -not- reset the counter.
Certain defensive stances or Shields may be susceptible to Guard Crushing. It will be noted if this is possible.
