Below are detailed rules for weapons of smaller or larger than average size (average considered to be 3 Units). Keep in mind that the -weight- the weapon has nothing to do with it. A knife three inches long that weighs 200 pounds is still considered a 'small' weapon. Whether or not you can -lift it- is up to your Power stat (You can wield any weapon with a Weight less than your Power. If you wield it two handed, this threshold increases to 1.5xPower)
First of all, Strength is still called Strength, but it now refers to the ability to keep control of a large, unwieldy weapon, even if it's made of cardboard. It in no way lowers disadvantages of larger weapons, other than allowing you to possibly use them one handed.
At base, you can wield any 3 Unit weapon one handed, and any 4 Unit weapon two handed. Every level of Strength increases these two thresholds by 1 each, so with the maximum Level 3 Strength, you can wield a 6 unit sword one handed, or a 7 Unit one two handed. The following are the downsides, with the upsides being obvious (More damage, more weight, better)
Note: When Dual Wielding, no matter what your Strength, only one of your weapons can be more than 4 Units heavy.
5 Unit Weapons - Abilities higher than level 3 can't be used, and Proficiencies higher than level 3 don't apply. Movement skills are unaffected.
6 Unit Weapons - Abilities higher than level 2 can't be used, and Proficiencies higher than level 2 don't apply. Movement skills are unaffected.
7 Unit Weapons - Only level 1 abilities can be used, and only level 1 Proficiency applies. Movement skills -1.
That covers Heavy weapons, now on to small ones. This is a bit simpler.
Any weapon below 3 Units in size is a Small weapon. Dual Wielding level for 2 Unit weapons is automatically considered +1 (with normal limits still counting), and for 1 Unit weapons is automatically +2 (Again, with normal limits still counting).
For 0 Unit weapons, dual wielding is automatic following standard rules, and levels of Dual Wield will instead count toward a THIRD application of weapon damage.
In addition, Proficiencies and Abilities above Level 4 can be taken for them (Not counting Movement skills). Such abilities can only be used with a small enough weapon, though they can be learned anyway.
2 Unit weapons - Allows abilities and Proficiencies up to level 5.
1 Unit weapons - Allows Abilities and Proficiencies up to level 6.
0 Unit weapons (Usually bare handed) - Allows Abilities and Proficiencies up to level 7.
The only down side to 'smaller' weapons is that, unless they are projectiles, they do not gain their 'elements' type advantage (1.2x damage and Piercing ability), except for Bludgeoning which retains it, though the chance will be small unless the weapon is extremely heavy somehow.
