Alchemy can do a few different things, all of them dealing with materials and a pinch of magic power. As such, doing them uses up Magic. Besides having enough MP, you need to have an Alchemist Flask and a bottle of Alchemy Chemicals. The chemicals are used up when you Alchemize...
Transmute: Changes Iron into another element. You need to have a certain amount of Iron to make different elements, so its like an exchange rate thing. For instance, you need 2 Lb of Iron to make 1 Lb of Silver. The more complex the material, the more Iron you need. You can only make base elements with Transmutation. uses 10 MP per pound of Iron you transmute, and you also need a bag of Alchemy Stones, which are used up when you Transmute
Alloying: Creates alloys of more than one mineral. For instance, mixing Iron with Carbon creates Carbon Steel. Unlikes other alchemy, you dont use magic unless one of the minerals you are Alloying is possessed of magical powers. You wont know how much MP you need until you do it, however. You dont need Alchemy stones to Alloy, either.
Unleash Potential: Unleashes the latent magical energy within gemstones. This takes 20 MP per stone, with some jewels taking even more magic power. Again, you dont need Alchemy Stones to do this.
