Scene 1, Paradise Lost
Scattered and defeated, the smaller portion of our heroes awaken in the middle of the Dark Father's new world, a torn and twisted image of it's former self. The experienced heroes among them, gone. Their strength and morale, faded... No sooner had they awakened, though, when they faced their first obstacle of surviving this harsh new world.
A hunting pack of Chuchus assault them, and only through a vigerous effort are they defeated. If meer Chuchus are such a terror, can our heroes truly triumph?
...
They're certainly going to try.
Scene 2, Never Alone
A long trek across the howling desert of the Dire Lands leads the remnants of our heroes to a welcome sight; a beautiful crystaline ocean bordered by orange sands, much more pleasant than the grey ash they had been traversing. This great sea of mercy has a calming effect on those near it, and especially on those drinking from it. A dodongo drinks alongside one of our heroes, and not a punch is thrown. While pondering their fate, a new face appears to tell them what's been happening. Sheik is halfway through explaining the new world when they are assaulted by the minions of the Dark Father, and they retreat to none other than...
Nintendo HQ.
They meet up with their old friends, and are soon joined by new warriors from the fallen lands around them. Hope restored by this gathering of arms, the forces of good make a decision.
Fight to your last breath, and then keep fighting.
Scene 3, The Call of the King's Despair
The heroes make their way to the Land of Dragons, Bahamut's Garden, to speak to the great king and hopefully gain some insight on their next move. Accompanied by a covey of Drakalfos fighters, they make their way to the Sea of Mercy, only to be assaulted by a flock of Gargyoles. Sending them to flight, Tiam sends a few of his warriors to finish them off, only to have them come back not quite themselves... In a fierce battle, the five are knocked out and loaded onto a glass boat made by melting the sand on the beach, along with the less flight-able heroes, and towed in short order through the tranquil waters to the once floating island. Witnissing an awe inspiring and slightly morbid ritual of Dragonkind is the first thing that they are treated to, followed by a feast and a very welcome, warm bed. Sleep well, fated ones...
Scene 4, Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Freezer
Meeting up with Bahamut, they find a fractured shell of the once great lord laying in his sanctum, heart broken and body torn by the dark ones afflicting the world. The heroes decide that the best move is to heal his body and spirit... Searching for the Dragon Numa, a legendary herb with a powerful effect on dragonkind, they find that it lay in repose deep underwater. They head north, to find parts that will turn their humble boat into a submersible vehicle... They are intercepted, however, by a great squidlike monster called Blooperoktorokraken, a dread monster with electric powers and the ability to shoot stones the size of boulders. Though they defeated the beast impressively, they found no victory that day... From the depths, the beasts mother came to finish what it started. Only through cunning and tenacity did they live to fight another day, escaping into the air towards their destination.....
Scene 5, There's No Business Like Snow Business
Upon awakening in the arctic reaches of the aptly named Cold Place, the group found themselves being warmed back to life by Kayouki, an adorable little penguin, and her tricked out mechanical sentinal, Guardian. After briefly having words with the heroes, and answering them as best he could as to the whereabouts of their allies Axl and Tiam, Guardian flies back to Kayouki's village to see if he can get permission for them to come into town. Kayouki does her best to keep them entertained in the bleak blizzard surroundings, but a group of evil snowmen known as Chilly come to interupt the 'good time'. Upon soundly defeating them, Guardian arrives with good news. They'll be allowed to enter the village if it can be proved beyond a reasonable doubt that they're good people. The video footage of them destroying the dreaded Chilly and saving Kayouki's life should do nicely...After a brief walk, our heroes find themselves in the beautiful home of penguin-kind, the Chilly Village Valley (Or as Kayouki says, Chilly Villy Vally). Here they meet such friendly fowl as Double 0 Penguin (A silly penguin who's seen one too many superspy movies), Johnny Coldrod (a true badass crossbreed with a leather jacket and a taste for bushido), Farmer (A....Farmer. A really tough, patient Pengy!), and the less-than-birdy Snowy, a White Wolfos pet. Though the weather is cool, the sunrises are beautiful, and for the first time in a long while, our heroes enjoy some degree of comfort... They also find one of two lost friends, quite joyfully reuniting with an armorless and uncomfortable General Tiam.
Asside 1, Crouching Spyke, Naked Dragon
For some reason unhappy with the nude condition of Tiam, Spyke the reploid raises a small force to march to the place where he was found to try and find the lost armement. Kayouki guides him, wearing some lovely armor, to where the dragon was rescued from, and the small group begins searching for the lost plating. Finding more than they bargained for, Spyke and company find themselves in the middle of a Chilly sanctuary, completely surrounded. Just when defeat seems inevitable, Kayouki unleashes the hidden power of her mechanical suit and completely decimates the enemy... Of course, a Chilly is never truly dead if it's Fez remains, so the group retreats empty handed...
Scene 6, Something Wicked This Way Comes
The town finds itself unable to provide assistance to the heroes due to impending invasion, so they decide to turn the tables and help their host instead. The town prepares itself for an oddly routine assault on it's peace, and the heroes stand beside the defense force, composed of penguins, big furry animals, and a few junky machines... Though the formation is ragtag, they preform admirably against the enemy, a huge group of Gargoyles courtesy of the Dark Father. Most have their wings clipped, but a few remain winged, and the heroes take it upon themselves to defeat those few. A heroic battle ensues, lasting quite a long time, until fractured stone is the most common thing you can see laying on the ground. Upon defeating the main force, their three friends take off to join the main battle, while our heroes go to the back of the town to investigate a scream...
Scene 7, Cold Hard Facts
The party once again saves Kayouki, this time removing her from the foul clutches of a bizarre looking Chilly with a foamy staff of terror. In the conversation that follows, they are given two things, one good and one bad; They're given some degree of insight into what the Chilly want with Kayouki in the form of a single name, Liquas... They also get a fight with a huge Chilly strike force composed of all kinds, shapes, colors, and flavors of snowman, from the mostly harmless Red Cubey to the deadly Cherry Abomidible Snocone. Barely able to dent the force thanks to a great forcefield that the leader creates, the heroes hold out long enough for reinforcements to arrive. Tiam flies in from his rest and begins blasting them with his deadly Heavenly Blaze Breath, and Kayouki arrives in her special armor, brandishing a gigantic bomb labled 'The Big One'. Sadly, this Hiroshima waiting to happen does nothing but destroy the shield that the Chilly Leader created... Luckily, the group is getting slowly more pissed, and this small advantage is more than enough to send snow and fezzes flying under the might of the Nintendo Special Forces. Enough is enough. The town has survived an invasion, and Kayouki is safe once more from the clutches of Chillykind thanks to them, and in thanks, they finally get the help they need to finish their mission...
Scene 8, Journey to the Center of the Freeze
After a nights rest, the group heads off, guided by Guardian and Kayouki, to find the parts they need. On their way out of town, Felix discovers a gravestone labled 'Liqua', apparantly belonging to Johnny's father... He shakes off the resemblence to the known enemy, and catches up. A long trek through the arctic exhausts the heroes, but they finally find and climb the mountain they were looking for, only to go from top to bottom via a long subterranean tunnel, and just as quickly back up, into the center of the hollowed mountain, where Axl is conducting a frantic firefight. They move to meet him, but must slog through yet another horde of Chilly, which they do valiently... Until they meet an unfamiliar face with a familiar name.
Scene 9, Sins of the Father
The Chilly leader, Liquas, confronts the party, and is found to be one in the same with Liqua, who's gravestone was buried to the "a" in snow, thus the confusion. The unfortunate penguin ventured too far and came to be trapped in the infamous Black Water, which seeped into his body and filled his heart with darkness. It is revealed that this influence has caused him to seek out Kayouki, meaning to sacrafice the young penguin to revive his deceased wife. They struggle valiantly against this new force, but the evil humors provide both an unbreakable defense and an unstoppable killing force, and they are eventually defeated... Guardian uses the last of his power to protect the group for as long as he can, then recklessly throws his body into the effort when the barrier fails, while he reveals Kayouki's true history and apologizes for hiding it. The death of the brave robot causes something deep within Kayouki to snap, and she unleashes her true power, freezing the Black Water and making Liquas vulnerable.
While they quickly dispatch the newly ice cubed being, he rises afterward, gaining control just long enough to make one request: To free him from the Black Water through a true warriors death. His speed and swordsmanship proved formidable, and though victory went to our heroes, it was a close call...
Scene 10, Cold Wrapup
Their leader defeated, the Chilly flee, and the parts they needed are easy pickings. Miraculously, Liquas survived the ordeal despite severe damage, freed from the Black Water, as it had all bled out of him through the wounds he recieved. Guardian also somehow lived through his ordeal, though as no more than an eye, but a happy eye at least. Kayouki, awakened, and Johnny, reunited with his father, take on the mantle of the town's protectors. Our heroes find themselves marked with a strange insignia, taking the form of what appears to be 1/4th of outer rim of a circle.
"The Guardians of Ice and Water have been awakened" is their only cryptic clue to what has happened... Hopefully it's a good thing!
