Official Artifact Class Rating Guide:
S: Extremely powerful, and usually one of a kind artifact. Unique or inane powers not possessed by anything else. VERY little known about artifact or even sometimes thought to be a myth.
EXAMPLES: Star Rod, Master Emerald, Tri-Force
A: Exeedingly powerful, often one of a kind or few of a kind artifact. Extreme and sometimes unusual powers possessed by few other things. Little known about artifact.
EXAMPLES: Chaos Emeralds, Fairy Crystal (Kirby 64: Crystal Shards), A single peice of the Tri-Force
B: Fairly powerful, but often several are found, in more than one place. Often, a good deal is known about what it does, but little is known of how it does it, and origins are often unknown.
EXAMPLES: Badges (Paper Mario), Heart Containers
C: Decently powerful, but often only semi-rare. What it does and how it does it are known, but origins are still slightly sketchy. Could possibly be made by humans with great difficulty.
EXAMPLES: Chozo Powered Suit, Great Fairy Sword
D: Minorly powerful, often with many being made. What it does, how it does it, and where it came from are known. Can be made with difficulty by humans.
EXAMPLES: Magical masks (LoZ: Majora's Mask), Reploids (Megaman series)
E: Powerful, often with many being made. What it does, how it does it, and where it came from are known. Can be made with some difficulty by humans.
EXAMPLES: Holy Water (Castlevania), Maxim Tomato
F: Boring... Often mass produced trinkets. Can be made fairly easily by humans.
EXAMPLES: Magic Powder (Legend of Zelda), Warrior Pendant (original)
Chaos Emerald: Extremely powerful jewels of unknown origin that come from Mobius. They exude a tremendous amount of power, but when all seven are brought together, it amplifies greatly, going far beyond the power they have individually. It is said that when they are all brought together, a miracle happens; This miracle can be either good or bad, however, depending on the wishes of those that gathered them...Some people, namely Sonic and Shadow, show an incredible affinity with the power of Chaos, and they can use its power to do a lot of incredible things; With all seven, they can use Rings as fuel to become unstoppable, incredibly destructive entities (Super Sonic, and Hyper Shadow)
Chaos Emeralds are classified as Class A Magical Artifacts, and when all are gathered, Class S.
Currently 6 are held by Sonic and Shadow, and one half of the seventh is trapped in a doll each possesses.
Dragon Cross: Magical cross with extreme powers of protection and sealing. Made by Bahamut eons ago, it grows to fit whatever room it is designed to seal. The Dragon Cross is a Class B Magical Artifact, due to it's single-minded unversatile power, and the fact that Bahamut could easily make another.
Currently sealing off the heart of the world.
Life Crystals: Crystals that float about quietly in the heart of the world. They represent the life force of all living beings, and doing anything with them can have grave consequences for the one they're keyed to.
Very hard to rate because while it has S-rank power (makes life possible), it has E-rank rarity, and can technically be made by humans with ease. Also, no one has figured out a use for them that extends beyond ruining a single person's day.
Master Emerald: A massive emerald holding an incredible, untapped power that is the polar opposite of that emitted by the Chaos Emeralds. using this emerald, you can stop the power of the Chaos Emeralds from working...But people who can use it are rare. It can, theoretically, be used to power machinery by even a mildly competant engineer, just like the Chaos Emeralds. It's been done before...And it wasn't pretty.
The Master Emerald is classified as a Class S Magical Artifact.
G-Token: Black coins with the faintest image of a fox engraved in one side. They seem to hold great powers of creation, but it's hard to tell where this power stems from or how they came about. All that is known is that the fox seems to represent an ancient god of fertility with a forgotten name, and that at one time a figment of this fox appeared to a user of the coin.
G-Tokens are Class A Magical Artifacts
Recently, an alarming number of these coins have appeared in the possession of the NSF, sometimes before they even join.
G-Key: A key with unknown abilities, created by Li Shinko while in the Temple of History. All that is known about it as of now is that it bears an uncanny resemblance to the G Tokens, and is thought to be linked to the same unknown diety.
Currently ranked as a Class D Magical Artifact, because it seems to have no use, and was technically created by a human.
Heroism Crystal: Blue crystals
Dragon Numa:
